I see identifying co-reference as the next stage to give value, after things can be identified.
I am therefore disappointed that there seems to be little or no mention in the text of the issues I raised in my talk (the Appendix does summarise well what I said, however).
I did end with a recommendation, as it says:
“Hugh suggested that JISC could facilitate CRS deployment, take co-reference discovery initiatives and make their data available as linked data.”
Generally a good document.
But rather leans to the idea that Persistent identifiers are about publications and associated metadata.
It is important to ensure that the scope is broadened to all the things that Universities do, such as Courses, Learning Outcomes and general research Outputs.
